Technology: Overused by Children â€Å"Our children’s digital lives are turning them into much different creatures from us – and not necessarily for the better.† – Dalton Conley, Time Magazine Imagine a world without technology. It is almost impossible to do and might even cause the average Millennial some major anxiety. Every day we use it whether it is our cars, phones, shopping, games and most importantly in the education of students. Homework, class assignments and grades are accessed via blackboard for students as early as kindergarten. Most elementary aged children have no idea what is like to do research the â€Å"good old fashioned way† with books from a library that they found using a card catalog. The days where children came home did†¦show more content†¦This consumption can lead to lack of exercise and time physically active. According to The National Center for Education Center, most students spend an average of 6  ½ hours at school each day with 45 minutes to 1 hour of P.E (physical education) (2008). That is a lot of time spent sitting down using digital devices. It is quite remarkable but is leading our children down a familiar path to a sedentary life. Childhood obesity has reached epidemic proportions in the United States (US) – approximately 17% of children ages 6-11 and 21% of children ages 12-17 years old are obese ((Taverno Ross, Dowda, Dishman, Pate, 2016, p. 352). We are asking our children to be confined to classroom glaring at a screen all day which can cause deterioration of eye health. It is mainly attributing it to sitting for hours in front of a computer screen. It can cause stress to a child s eyes since the computer forces the child to focus and strain a lot more than any other task which can directly put a child at a greater risk than adults for developing symptoms of computer vision syndrome (Heiting,G. Wan,L.K , 2016). Another problem that stems from the over use of technology is the loss problem solving skills and imagination. Greek Epics There are some challenges in each history period, and authors will create some heroes in their epics that reflect values of the culture at the time. By studying the hero’s actions and his motivations, it tells the society conditions and the civilization of that history period. Homer; the authors of The Iliad and The Odyssey; and Vergil; the authors of The Aeneid are two of the greatest writers in ancient western civilization. There are heroes in these three literatures to reflect the society and culture: Achilles, Odysseus and Aeneid. The Iliad and the Odyssey are two of the oldest ancient literatures by Homer in around 8th century B.C. (Homer, 2012). A History of Violence As Reviewed by Nathan The horror on the screen was only matched by the horrifying look on my fellow movie goers faces. While I am not familiar with David Cronenbergs work watching this one film quickly acclimated me to his extreme methods of capturing reality. Many of the images projected on the screen evoked such a visceral reaction that the emotions of the characters seemed to live vicariously through the audience. What this movie lacked in plot it more than made up for in character development and excellent cinematography. A seemingly quaint story about a small business owner from Indiana turns into a blood curdling expose about violence and spiritual rebirth. Ignoring the opening seen the movie begins†¦show more content†¦Because the movie was so simple and directed towards character development and not plot development it needed to create some very realistic emotions, and it did. It explained in pictures how terrible and gruesome it is to kill a person and how intense and erotic it is to be in love. The movie was no holds barred in the most fundamental sense. While the cinematographer was not challenged with extensive special effects he/she did a tremendous job of shooting and editing the movies romantic scenes as well as the all important violent scenes. One scene that stuck out is when one of the characters shoots another in the face and you see his blood and brains spray out the back of his skull. While this has been done in other movies I have never seen it done so convincingly. It was these kinds of small things the movie relied on to bring forth emotion and it was the cinematographer who came through to make this movie worth seeing. Overall I am not a movie buff; in fact the last movie I saw in theatres was The Italian Job, yet recommending this movie to anyone is a no brainier. People love to see movies for a variety of reasons, but one reason I love movies is because they create a dramatic portrayal of reality, and I have not seen a movie do that as well as this one in long time. Therefore, it can be said that both male and females are equally satisfied. However, many have found that female workers are inconsistent and career development is more continuous for the men. According to the Shaffril and Uli (2010), age is a major determinant of work performance that indicates job satisfaction. Young people are interested in enhancing their skill through training and skill development. In contrast, the old people are not interested in career expansion and training. Scholars have also identified that there is job satisfaction with high level of performance when the worker is more experienced. Many have also identified that young employees are low performer. Many studies have found that education increases job satisfaction (Altinay, Paraskevas and Jang 2015). Well training fosters the professionalism and lack of training causes frustration. Job satisfaction can be improved through motivational factors but impact of motivation varies according to the demographic. Some factors influence the females and some influence the young workers than the male and the old people respectively. Job satisfaction decreases staff satisfaction and productivity improves. Ther efore, it is important to analyze the role of demographic on the job satisfaction of the employers. Demographic factor affects the organizational commitment that in turn affects the changes in the performance of the workers. Kansra and Pathania (2012) opined that the female workers have less attachment to work. Hence, ole people are more satisfied with their current and existing job. However, this study has indicated that in various demographic categories, the response of the employees or the managers are different. This indicates that the older is the employee the more will be that person is committed to the organization and young housekeepers are not satisfied with their present job. This is because; they are more likely to change their job or there are high chances that they will shift to another company with the same kind of job. Another finding that is expected is that more is the educational qualification; the less will be the interest of the workers to be engaged in housekeeping services. A more qualified person has prospectus to be engaged in higher-level job than housekeeping; whereas, a less qualified worker is more satisfied with their work. In this research, it is ambiguous to expect the relationship between gender and job satisfaction. However, after obtaining data through regression analysis; it can be concluded whether female and male workers have different kind o f level of job satisfaction. Arbitrarily, it can be expected that, the result of data analysis will show insignificant relationship between gender and job satisfaction. Experience of workers might be negatively related to the job satisfaction. This is because; more is the person is experienced, higher is the expectation from a job. As a result of this, his or her job satisfaction level is less fulfilled. Whereas a less experience workers may found that satisfactory with the current role, played as a house-keeper. One thing must be noted that, there is similar probability that the correlation become positive, as experienced people are older as well who are more satisfied with their job. The relationship might be positive or negative but the significance might be less. Job satisfaction is considered to be improved through some motivational factors. Money; career advancement; training; health benefits; fun place to work and flexible hours are some major motivational factors. These factors have different impact according to the demographic. The young housekeepers are more interested with fun at work; flexible working hours; whereas the relatively old people are satisfied if they receive health benefits and career advancement. Similarly, the people with more experience are interested to have career development and training. The less educated people are less likely to be engaged with career development programs. Female housekeepers are satisfied more if they get flexibility in the working hours; health benefits and money. Therefore, the respondents job satisfaction level is different according to the demography of the workers. The performance statistic of the housekeepers of the hospitality industry has been obtained and it has been clarified while conducting the interview whether they have received any training or not. It has been identified that, those who have gotten training are less qualified workers and after achieving certain skills their performance has significantly improved. The performances of the previously trained workers are already high so the additional increment in their performance is not so high (Burgard and Gorlitz 2014). Due to equality, job satisfaction through training is expected to improve and their commitment to the company enhanced. Conclusion The proposal has formulated some research objectives and questions. Based on these, the proposal has discussed some findings of the previous literature. After reviewing the literature, it has described the methodology adopted. The research will be conducted with the help of secondary and primary data. To get the outcome, statistical tools will be applied and interpreted. The findings will be based on the formulated research questions. It will verify whether the outcome of the data analysis is similar to the findings from the literature. The effect of demographic variables in the job satisfaction and influence of training on the performance of the house-keepers has been analyzed. (Ghosh, 2014) The hotel should carry out regular internal safety audits and inspection to pick out any area in this context that my have been left behind when safety, hygiene and sanitation measures were being put in place. The foodservice facility should put in place procedures for injury reporting and treatment. There is need to follow up on reported injuries and reviewing progress made by the victim so that the business can comply with the regulations on employee welfare. As it is currently the hotel relies on employees own reporting which may not be accurate. The facility should ask for reports from qualified professionals like registered medical doctors and clinical officers. (Ghosh, 2014) On occupational health and safety, Hilton food court needs to enough fire fighting equipments within the facility which are strategically located for easy access in case of any eventuality. These equipments are central to the fire fighting preparedness that foodservice facilities like Hilton must be fully comply. (Ghosh, 2014) Conclusion In conclusion, the outcome of this audit report on Hilton food court is satisfactory given that the facility has addressed a number of safety, hygiene and sanitary procedures as listed in the audit checklist.
