Hospitality and Tourism Management Audit Report on Hilton Food

Question: Discuss about the Safety Hygiene And Sanitation Processes Audit Report On Hilton Food Court. Answer: Introduction This is a safety, hygiene and sanitation processes audit report on Hilton food court, a restaurant based in Aldelaide city, Australia. The aim of this audit report is to assess the responsiveness or compliance of the Hilton food court on based on a safety, hygiene and sanitation checklist attached as an appendix to this audit report as well as regulations such as Work Health and Safety act 2011 of Australian laws. The checklist was developed through compilation of best practices in safety, hygiene and sanitation process in hospitality industry. Audit outcome The foodservice facility as a well designed specious layout of the floor and various partitions that makes it easy to clean where trash and cabbages are well isolated from the kitchen area, service area and where customer take their meals. The place is clean i.e. free from soil and organic mater and sanitary that is free from disease causing micro-organism when evaluated for efficacy tests. Hilton Hotel uses four types of cleaners; these are Detergents, for removing dirt form the surface, Degreasers, used for removing greases, delimers for removing mineral deposits as well as abrasive cleaners for removing difficult dirt. The hotel has a robust solid waste management program that comprises of composting the solid waste at a separate facility from the hotel premise which is an additional stream of revenue for the hotel. It has agents who collect plastic wastes such as straws for recycling and incineration depending on the suitability of the waste disposal technique. (Ghosh, 2014) Food supply and purchasing is closely monitored by the hotel management in that, every delivery is thoroughly checked to confirm conformity to health standards required by the hotel, as it is captured in the Australian Work Health Act 2011, where the business owner as well as the supplier are responsible for the adherence to the reasonable safety and hygienic standards of the supplies delivered and received by the foodservice facility. (Taylor-Butler, 2008) On food safety in production and service the facility is highly compliant. The management ensures the food temperatures has optimal for each type of food by having special cooking equipments with innovative technology that ensures the food time and temperature relationship is optimally kept across various food processing steps. Employee hygiene is also closely monitored by the management where each employee is in correct attire such covered hair among other safety and hygiene measures. The facility surface and equipments are thoroughly and properly cleaned to eliminate all type of germs that may be found in dishes and other types of equipments in foodservice facility. In view of this, cross contamination of food at Hilton hotel is reasonably eliminated and is unlikely to occur. (Ghosh, 2014) The management and employees and employees at the foodservice facility under audit are involved in safety, hygiene and sanitation process of the hotel. The management show concern with certain safety, hygiene and sanitation measures and always appraise these steps to ensure they are as responsive to the prevailing conditions as possible. Trainings are also conducted on refresh everyone working at the facility to keep observing the set measures and standards. (McSwane, 2009) Recommendation The foodservice facility needs to improve on the communication part in terms of meetings to brainstorm on the whole safety, hygiene and sanitation procedures of the hotel. This will give room to the employees to air any concerns they have on already set procedures and trainings conducted over the same. Employees should be provided with a copy of the Work Health and safety document so that they can acquaint themselves with it and provide opinions on where they think the current safety, hygiene and sanitation procedures has implemented by the hotel doesnt comply with the government regulation. (Farber, Crichton and Snyder, 2010) The facility doesnt have return to work policies to clear employees when returning to work in case of an injury. As it is currently, once the employee intends to return to work after an injury its upon the manager on duty to make personal decision on the matter which may not be up to standard. This policy will prevent the business from possible prosecution in case an employee end up having more serious effects emanating from the first injury where correct procedures were not followed. (Ghosh, 2014) The hotel should carry out regular internal safety audits and inspection to pick out any area in this context that my have been left behind when safety, hygiene and sanitation measures were being put in place. The foodservice facility should put in place procedures for injury reporting and treatment. There is need to follow up on reported injuries and reviewing progress made by the victim so that the business can comply with the regulations on employee welfare. As it is currently the hotel relies on employees own reporting which may not be accurate. The facility should ask for reports from qualified professionals like registered medical doctors and clinical officers. (Ghosh, 2014) On occupational health and safety, Hilton food court needs to enough fire fighting equipments within the facility which are strategically located for easy access in case of any eventuality. These equipments are central to the fire fighting preparedness that foodservice facilities like Hilton must be fully comply. (Ghosh, 2014) Conclusion In conclusion, the outcome of this audit report on Hilton food court is satisfactory given that the facility has addressed a number of safety, hygiene and sanitary procedures as listed in the audit checklist. The facility is also largely compliant with the Australian government regulations such as the Work Health and Safety act 2011. References Farber, J., Crichton, J. and Snyder, J. (2010). John D. Rockefeller Obsession Into Success Essays -

John D. Rockefeller: Obsession Into Success John D. Rockefeller, the Standard Oil magnate who, by the time of his death in 1937, was probably worth close to a billion dollars, is perhaps one of the best historical examples of an obsessive-compulsive. An obsessive-compulsive is one who is driven to an act or acts, generally being asocial, by his own fixations but by nature of his peculiar psyche must balance these actions with others more socially acceptable. There are abundant examples of Rockefeller's deeds fitting these clinical characteristics, and John D. Rockefeller is today generally regarded as an obsessive-compulsive. The roots of this disorder are traceable back to his childhood. While much of Rockefeller's business history remains a mystery today, it is apparent that much of his success is attributable to his obsessive-compulsive disorder. Franz Alexander and Louis B. Shapiro's description of the obsessive-compulsive disorder from their book Neuroses, Behavior Disorders, and Perversions0 is a frequently used summary of the commonly agreed-upon characteristics. It states: "Full blown cases of obsessive-compulsive states present a dynamic equilibrium in which obsessive preoccupation with ego-alien fantasies... are precariously balanced by rituals representing an exaggeration of social standards, such as cleanliness, punctuality, consideration for others. The dynamic formula is similar to bookkeeping in which on the one side of ledger are the asocial tendencies which the patient tries to balance precisely on the other side with moralistic and social attitudes... Every asocial move must be undone by an opposing one..." The term "ego-alien" refers to thoughts, emotions or material which are consciously detestable to the patient (though not he may not necessarily be conscious of the reason). This summary is important, and we will return to it later. Rockefeller was born in 1839 and raised in a troubled, then broken, home. His father, who sold quack "quick-heal" ailment medicines, was often away for months at a time. Rockefeller was raised essentially by his mother. Eventually his father consummated a bigamous marriage with a teenage Canadian and left Rockefeller and his mother and siblings. At an early age, it became apparent that young John was not quite like the other children. For instance, he adamantly refused to play with other children unless he could choose the game. In almost every description of him as a child, he is often described as "thinking". He married Laura Celestia Spelman, a girl who was strikingly similar to his mother, which is never a good sign; and when he decided to go into business, he borrowed $1000 from his father- at ten percent interest. Ten percent was well above the going rate; Rockefeller's father essentially loansharked his son. Rockefeller was apparently disturbed by his childhood; he absorbed his cutthroat business techniques from his shyster father, and at some point other influences at a young age probably began to develop his obsessive-compulsive disorder. Unfortunately, few intimate accounts of his early life and family exist, so it is difficult to pinpoint these influences. Rockefeller seemed to make his fortune with hardly any effort; a brief outline is appropriate. After dropping out of high school and serving a clerical apprenticeship, Rockefeller went into business, forming a produce house with one partner and $4,000 of capital between them. In its first year its gross income was $450,000, with a net income of $4,400- better than one hundred percent return. After flourishing through the Civil War boom, Rockefeller's company bought its first refinery. Rockefeller soon gave up his original partnership to concentrate on the oil business. In 1870, with a capital of better than one million dollars, Rockefeller reformed his company as the Standard Oil Company of Ohio. Buying the means to control production from the smallest detail (he even built his own barrels to save money) Rockefeller soon managed to dominate the nationwide oil market. In 1879 Standard Oil controlled 95 percent of oil production in the United States. Like all successful businesses of the time, Rockefeller's company did a fair amount of illegal dealing; and while Standard Oil was perhaps not quite as crooked as its competitors, it is in this fact that we see the first facet of Rockefeller as an obsessive-compulsive. While Rockefeller encouraged illegal railroad rebates and even invented a few new ones (such as the "drawback", a variation on the kickback) he was an adamant churchgoer. He strongly disapproved of: smoking, drinking, card playing, dancing, merriment, "wenching", theatre going, concert going, banqueting, idling, socializing in general and "good fellowship". He took no vacations, no time off. He did nothing in his small amount of free time except go to church two or three times a week.

The Hudson River And Pcb Pollution Essays - Monsanto, Pollutants

The Hudson River And Pcb Pollution Essays - Monsanto, Pollutants The Hudson River And Pcb Pollution The Hudson River and PCB Pollution The Hudson River is a body of water that stretches for 315 miles from the Adirondack Mountains to the Battery in Manhattan, reaching its deepest point of 216 feet in the Highlands near Constitution Island and West Point and reaches its widest point of 3 miles across at Havestraw. This river is one of the most beautiful and scenic of the Tri-State area. Unfortunately, it happens to be New Yorks most polluted river. The river has been influenced upon since the early 1600s, when Englishman Henry Hudson commanded the Dutch ship Half Moon on an exploration of the river, certain that he had discovered a trade route to China. It soon dawned that this was no Atlantic-to-Pacific passage but an Edenlike place of awesome potential-a river valley teeming with prospect and spirit that was worth fighting for. In the centuries that followed, the fight for the river and its commerce never stopped, and still continues to the present. Then during the Industrial Revolution, with the advent of hulking m anufacturing plants on the riverbanks, everything changed. The river became a sewer, cut off from the people around it by the electrification of the railroads. The 1825 completion of the Erie Canal instantly opened trade to the Midwest by linking Troy to Buffalo and established the Hudson River as the major commerce channel for New York City. Tycoons transformed the landscape in New York and across the country with the railroad, and the Hudson River valley became a hotbed for iron mining, limestone quarrying and clear-cutting. Toward the 19th century, when dynamite blasting was reducing the face of the Palisades to rubble, conservationists became alarmed that something was being lost to progress. In 1900, New York and New Jersey established the Palisades Interstate Park Commission to preserve the cliffs from further quarrying. Although conservation efforts continued into the 20th century, there was no progress to protect the Hudson River and its banks from industrial pollution. Some of the largest factories in the nation started production on the Hudson River, including Anaconda Wire and Cable in Hastings-on-Hudson and GM in the present day Sleepy Hallow, discharging waste into the river. There are numerous known contaminated sites around the U.S. Among the most dangerous of these, and of particular concern to residents of the Hudson Valley, are the forty hot spots in the Hudson River resulting from the dumping and leakage from General Electric plants at Fort Edward and Hudson Falls. From 1947 to 1977, these two plants legally discharged from 500,000 to 1.5 million pounds of PCBs into the Hudson, and unknowingly saturated the bedrock beneath both sites with at least that much again. There are PCBs in Hudson River water, biota, and sediment from Hudson Falls to New York City - 200 miles that comprise the nations largest Superfund site. Pure PCBs are oozing out of the bedrock to this day, constantly recontaminating the river and over 300,000 pounds remain concentrated in bottom sediments of the river today. The spread of PCBs throughout the Hudson River and the food chain, which it supports, has created one of the most extensive hazardous waste problems in the nation. Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) are a group of synthetic oil-like chemicals (therefore insoluble in water) of the organochlorine family. Until their toxic nature was recognized and their use was banned in the 1970s, they were widely used as insulation in electrical equipment, particularly transformers. Reputable chemists have since concluded, it was probably a mistake ever to make or use PCBs. These are serious poisons, which have been shown to cause damage to the reproductive, neurological and immune systems of wildlife and humans and are known to cause cancer. Exposure has also been linked to behavioral damage. Specifically, because PCBs in the body mimic estrogen, women of childbearing age and their infants are particularly susceptible to a variety of development and reproductive disorders. Once in the body, these compounds do one of two things: they block the normal passage of hormones into their receptors, or, mimic the hormone itself and enter the receptor in lieu of the hormo ne. By doing so can irrevocably alter and damage the development of the organism.

Air Pollution and Global Warming on Aboriginals - Free Samples

Climate change is one of the issues germinated through the diabolical policy problem around the world. Rapid growth of the industries and the capital boom in the world market has leading to deterioration in the air pollution, which ultimately causing global warming (Knibbs and Sly 2014). One of the most threatened groups of indigenous population lives in Australia who is seemed to be suffering from the adverse effect of the climate change (Scarano and Ceotto 2015). Under this stringent condition of the aboriginals around the world, this report is aimed to consider the effect of the air pollution and the global warming on the indigenous population of the Australian population. According to the intergovernmental Panel on Climate change’s Third Assessment Report (TAR) it has been found that the Australian aboriginals are one of the two most threatened indigenous groups in the world that has been suffering heavily due to the adverse effect of the climate change (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change 2015). Now, the irony is that, there have been plenty of researches on the environment and development issues in Australia during last thirteen years; however most of them are concerned about the climate change laws of Australia other than the northern territories and fragmented in nature. Previous researches have failed to provide any long term engagement program between the community and government, which can assess the climate change and global warming effect on the Australian aboriginals (Race et al. 2016). Thus, this research is aimed to assess the effect of air pollution and global warming on the aboriginal of Australia through comparative analysi s of population living in northern region of the country with the non indigenous population of Australia. Over the time various foreign communities has came to the Australia and captured the land of the aboriginal people during the seventeenth century (Gilbert 2016). Since then, indigenous people have shifted to the northern territory of Australian and non indigenous population has exploited the country’s natural resource to a great extent leading to air pollution and global warming. According to Flora (2018), there has been various researches regarding the challenges and issues faced by the non indigenous population due to air pollution and global warming, however very few has addressed the case of indigenous population. There are more than 100,000 Australian indigenous people who presently live in remote areas of the country, whose majority section can be found in the Northern territory of the Australia and according to the TAR report their health condition and resource availability is getting deteriorated day by day (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change 2015). Under this s cenario, this research is essential for assessing the magnitude of the effect of air pollution and global warming from the point of view of the Australian indigenous population, The potential threat to the existence of aboriginal peoples is at stake due to the institutional and legal barriers raised through the various governmental programs regarding the environment and development. Under the purview of the situation of the Australian indigenous populations, this research is aimed to discuss the effect of air pollution and global warming on the aboriginal population of Australia. How Marketing has changed because of the development of technology Essay

How Marketing has changed because of the development of technology - Essay Example The author of the essay "Change of Marketing due to Technological Advances" assumes that in the present situation of ever advancing technology, a focus on marketing is needed. The identification of best plans to acquire market share and defeating competitors also should be included in marketing strategy. The creation of essential components of the product and market strategy is needed. Making a product nearer to the customer is also a compulsion in the competitive market. After the advent of information technology, the marketing took new turn and the clients are being contacted through internet or the network of the companies. The marketing strategy inherent in the internet or web based services is making the customer’s work easy to contact the vendor, manufacturer or service provider. WRITE YOUR OWN CONSTITUTION Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

WRITE YOUR OWN CONSTITUTION - Essay Example In 1938, Romania was under dictatorship government. In addition, there was reckless dissolution of it political system by the political leaders. However, a stable government requires a well written constitution that exercises rules and regulations (Founding unites states fathers 34). Romania needs the establishment of a stable democratic form of government. For this to succeed, it requires a written constitution that set the basic democracy principles (Founding unites states fathers 45). The purpose of the constitution is to give people the right to choose a government of their interest, put enduring limits on the government, and entrench rules in the constitution. The following is a model constitution that Romania democratic government can adopt. The goal of a democratic government is to give people the right to control the government. This will demolish dictatorship and allow people to elect politicians of their choice. People will be able to put limits on the officials by dividing power among diverse parts of the government. In addition, people will require the government to respect their individual rights and be accountable through allowing regular and free elections. This will be a body of government consisting of two legislative houses which include: the house of representative and the senate. The senate house will be smaller with its members serving for longer terms. On the other hand, the house of representative will be large than the senate. Its members will serve for shorter terms. However, the two houses will be responsible of making laws through two ways. The first one will be through veto override. This is a process by which the two houses will use to vote on a bill voted by the president. In addition, two-thirds votes from each house will be required in order to pass a bill. The second one will be filibuster which will involve a parliamentary procedure for extending debates. One or more members, in the two
